Un bug dans le correctif KB891711

Si sur votre PC votre système d’exploitation est Windows 98, Windows 98 Se et Windows ME et que vous avez installé le correctif de sécurité KB891711, vous avez de grandes chances d’avoir des ralentissements, des blocages, quand ce n’est pas le fameux écran bleu. La faute a qui ?
La faute a ce correctif qui doit normalement empêcher une vulnérabilité de votre PC mais semble-t-il fait le contraire ou plutot vous protège tout en vous bloquant.
Pour l’instant, Microsoft n’est pas en mesure de fournir de correctif à ce correctif mais selon Jerry Bryant, du Microsoft Security Response Center (MCSE) ils recherchent activement une solution à ce problème.

En attendant le meilleur a faire si vous avez ce genre de problème est soir de passer par ajout suppression de programmes pour le désintaller, soit de passer par MSconfig (démarrer / exécuter / tapez « msconfig » et onglet démarrage ) pour le désactiver. Dans les deux cas, la faille de sécurité sera de nouveau présente.

First, I would like to explain Microsoft has received reports about issues with KB891711 on Windows 98, Windows 98 SE and Windows ME. Our testing before release of this update did not reveal problems. We are investigating the reports of this issue with the goal of providing an appropriate resolut
ion. That resolution may be to document a workaround for the issue or a new update posted to the Windows Update site. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused and look forward to having a resolution very soon.

In the meantime, I recommend you perform the steps below to workaround the issue:

Step One: Boot to Safe Mode
==================

1. Restart your computer.
2. While your computer restarts, press down and hold the CTRL until the Windows Startup menu appears.
3. Choose Safe Mode from the Startup menu, and then press ENTER.
4. Check the issue again.

Step Two: Disable KB891711
==================

1. Click Start->Run.
2. Type "msconfig" (without the quotation marks) and press Enter.
3. Click Startup tab and uncheck "KB891711".
4. Click OK and restart the computer to test the issue.

If the issue persists, let's go ahead and perform the steps below to test the issue:

Step Three: Remove updates
==================

1. Boot to Safe Mode first.
2. Click Start->Settings->Control Panel.
3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
4. Remove "Windows 98 KB891711 Update".
5. Click OK and restart the computer to test the issue.

I believe the information I provided will be useful and I suggest we do not install the update KB891711 currently. Microsoft related team has invested on this issue and I will let you know if there is any update.
